About Us
VicForests is a State-owned commercial forestry business operating in Victoria, Australia. Our organisation sustainably harvests two million tonnes of eucalypt logs yearly for a range of domestic and export customers and markets.
We commenced operations in August 2004 as part of the Victorian Government's Our Forests Our Future policy which required the separation of forest policy, regulatory and commercial functions.
The timber we harvest is entrusted to us by the Government through the Sustainable Forests (Timber) Act 2004 and it is our role to ensure we generate the best community value for Victoria while maintaining high environmental standards.
We have a strong commitment to our environmental, social and economic performance and work hard to ensure that we meet the requirements of Victoria's Sustainability Charter for State forests. This commitment is evident in our Vision, Purpose and Values.
Our work is conducted following strict sustainable guidelines that enable us to be Australian Forestry Standard certified. Timber sales, which are transacted at our customers' mill gate, are conducted utilising an online auction system.
