Consultation period runs from 4 December 2017 until 5pm 12 January 2018
Fill in this form to send a submission to VicForests regarding the Timber Release Plan amendments. All submissions will be reviewed and responded to.
The amendments to the Timber Release Plan will not change the overall level of harvesting. The changes will be reflected in the locations where operations will occur, within areas already designated for timber harvesting in State forest, over the next five years.
The changes proposed in 2017 include the modification of boundaries on existing areas based on improved planning information, the sustainable addition of new areas, and the removal of unharvested or regrown areas.
The TRP is part of an ongoing planning process that begins once an area of State forest is identified as suitable for timber harvesting, and continues until the area has been harvested and successfully regrown.
The TRP lists the areas available for timber harvesting over the next 3-5 years, their locations, the type of forest within and the method of harvesting that would be used in each one. VicForests also regrow all harvested areas with the same type of forest that was originally there.
Community feedback is sought on specific operational aspects of our proposed harvesting plans that may include:
Listening to the community ensures that we are aware of what is important to them, so that we can incorporate these things into our plans.
VicForests will review all feedback following this period and incorporate any changes required before submitting to the Board for approval and to the Government to be Gazetted.
