The public consultation for the Timber Release Plan (TRP) is now open. If you have any questions on the proposed TRP changes please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The proposed TRP identifies potential operational areas (called coupes) for the coming years and is updated regularly as part of VicForests’ ordinary planning process. It is drawn from a larger area called the Allocation Order which gives VicForests access to State forests timber resources under the Sustainable Forests (Timber) Act 2004.
VicForests is conducting its public consultation process from 2 July to 30 July2021 to ensure suitable input and comment from affected and interested parties, including the community, regarding the proposed TRP changes.
Feedback is sought on matters that should be considered by VicForests in deciding whether to include specific areas in the plan, or as part of more detailed planning undertaken prior to commencement of activities in the proposed coupes.
Any harvesting would be done in compliance with the Management Standards and Procedures for timber harvesting operations in Victoria’s State forests (2014) as well as VicForests’ own adaptive management processes.
In doing so, VicForests’ adaptive management approach to harvesting provides for the protection of habitat and forest regeneration.
VicForests’ timber harvesting and regeneration operations are conducted in line with Victoria’s strict environmental regulations and the State’s Forest Management Zoning scheme and are subject to oversight by an independent regulator.
Feedback from the consultation process will be assessed to be incorporated in our coupe planning process prior the TRP being approved by the VicForests Board.
