Stage One: Seed Collection
Once an area has been harvested for timber, seeds are collected from the fallen trees and is added to our storage until the area is ready to be re-grown.
Seeds must be collected from an area within close range of the harvested area to ensure the same mix of tree and plant species grow back. For example, if 80% of the trees were Mountain Ash, then 80% of the seeds that are sown must be Mountain Ash.
This is to ensure that the forest re-grows as close to it’s naturally occurring state as possible.
