Proposed changes to the Timber Utilisation Plan
We are now reviewing submissions.
TUP overview
The TUP is related to Community Forestry operations, predominantly occurring in the west of the state. It identifies areas where we propose to conduct timber harvesting operations not covered by the Allocation Order.
The proposed changes will add new operational areas (called coupes) to the TUP as well as making changes to the boundary of some existing coupes. They do not include areas proposed to be restored in partnership with Traditional Owners to support recover after the storm event in 2021.
The public consultation for the Timber Utilisation Plan (TUP) is now closed.
VicForests is conducted its public consultation on proposed changes to the TUP from 15 March 2022 to 12 April 2022 to ensure suitable input and comment from affected and interested parties, including the community.
Public consultation and stakeholder feedback on the proposed changes to the TUP is an important part our planning process. During this consultation period we are seeking coupe-specific feedback on matters that should be considered in deciding whether to include specific areas in the plan or as part of more detailed planning undertaken prior to commencement of activities in the proposed new areas.
For example, coupe-specific feedback may relate to:
- timing of harvesting operations
- haulage routes
- proximity of proposed harvesting to private property or public use areas
- identification and protection of forest values within specific harvesting sites.
Feedback from the consultation process will be assessed and relevant information fed back into our coupe planning process prior to the TUP being approved by the VicForests Board.
