Special Management Plans
VicForests conducts pre-harvest surveys for threatened species. Once a threatened species is detected, VicForests develops a Special Management Plan that aims to protect the identified suitable habitat for that species, as well as incorporating all revelant prescriptions and regulatory requirements.
These plans may incorporate areas excluded from harvesting, known as VicForests Reserves, and Special Managament Areas in which harvesting can proceed under conditions.
VicForests has in excess of 70 Special Management Plans. Below are examples of Special Management Plans that have previously been of interest to members of the public.
Individuals can make reasonable requests for copies of any Special Management Plan by email via the Contact Us page.
